Caribbean Fine Art Fair Barbados 2017

We are pleased to announce that the 7th CaFA Fair Barbados will be held from March 8-12, 2017 at Grand Salle Gallery & Annex, Tom Adams Financial Center, Spry Street, Bridgetown, Barbados. The management, artists, volunteers and supporters are all excited to return to Historic Bridgetown and the wonderful venue at the home of the Barbados Central Bank. CaFA Fair Barbados will continue to present a unique look at the region’s visual and performing arts including distinguished symposium presenters, fashion, spoken word, and film.

Beyond the success of CaFA Fair Barbados 2016 both in terms of art sales and visiting patrons, participating artists continue to receive opportunities to advance their careers and showcase their creativity.

Tikhonova-Wintner Gallery in association with CaFA Fair Barbados presented "News from the Islands: 6 Caribbean Printmakers" from November 1, 2015 – January 17, 2016, featuring Diogenes Ballester (Puerto Rico), Pepe Coronado (DR), Francks Francois Deceus (Haiti), Carlos Jesus Martinez Dominguez (DR). Leslie Jimenez (DR), and Jamaica’s Ava Tomlinson. The gallery is located in historic Mount Morris district in Harlem, New York City. Opening reception was held on Saturday, November 7, 4-7pm. An Artist Talk moderated by Trinidadian scholar Daniela Fifi was held on Wednesday, December 2, 2016 at 7pm.


From December 3, 2015 – April 24, 2016 the Dwyer Cultural Center in Harlem, NYC, hosted “Contemporary Painting & Printmaking: Selections from CaFA Fair Barbados” an exhibition celebrating Caribbean culture, which featured artwork by Ras Ishi Butcher, Jamal Ince & Hedy Klineman (Barbados); Patricia Brintle & Jean Patrick Icart-Pierre (Haiti); Carlos JM Dominguez, Alex Guerrero, Miguel Luciano, Rene De Los Santos & Moses Ros-Surez (Dominican Republic); Bernard Hoyes (Jamaica); Alfredo Isaac (Panama); and Beatrice Mellinger (Martinique); as well as video presentation and interaction with personalities who are shaping its programming. On Friday, July 22, 2016, 5-10 pm CaFA Fair Barbados in association Caribbeing House, 794 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn NYC, launched "Inside Caribbean Culture", a series of popup visual art exhibits exploring the expression of artists across the Caribbean's 4 major language groups. This first presentation in the series featured paintings by Jamaican Bernard Stanley Hoyes, Dominica's Earl Darius Etienne, and sculptures by Barbadian Alfred Weekes. Curated by CaFA Fair Executive Director Anderson Pilgrim the series is hosted by Caribbeing's Shelley Worrell.  Visit www.caribbeing.com for further information and future dates.
Barbadian sculptor Alfred Weekes is the featured artist at Sister’s Uptown Bookstore and Cultural Center, Harlem, NYC from September 1 – October 31, 2016. “Color & Movement: In Relief” will consist of new 2D and 3D sculptures by this most unique artist.
