Presenters include: Danny Simmons – celebrated US artist & cultural entrepreneur
Dr. Ademola Olugebefola – renowned USVI born artist & lecturer
Amy Kisch – former Sothebys executive, founder of AKArt
Amy Kisch, 11am – 12.30pm
Amy Kisch, Founder/CEO of art advisory agency AKArt—previously at Sotheby's auction house—will discuss the machinations of the global art market and the significant interrelations between private, corporate and institutional realms, in the creation of marketplaces for artists and regions. She will explore trends within the establishment of markets worldwide—from Asia to Europe, to North & Latin America—and their implications for the Caribbean.
Dr. Ademola Olugebefola, 1pm – 2.30pm
Dr. Olugebefola will present a slide show of The Kreiger Group representing a consortium of US Virgin Island painters, sculptures and mixed media artists. The Kreiger Group, - is founded and managed by a Caribbean woman entrepreneur - who also represents several top advertising design and graphic specialists practicing in the global marketplace.
Part 2 (individual talk topic and group dialogue)
As one of the co-founders of Harlem Week Celebration - ranked as one of New York's biggest festival of arts, culture, business and tourism, he will share his unique experience as an artist and team participant in seeing the evolution and growth of this famous tri-state Celebration. We will discuss how Barbados in particular - as well as other Caribbean nations - can benefit their local economy while enhancing their image as cultural and eco tourism destinations on the world stage.
Part 3 (Personal art talks and gallery tours)
When he is physically on site at CaFA, he will be available to conduct short tours and introductions of his art on display.
Danny Simmons, 3pm-4.30pm
Mr. Simmons will be discussing the role of public art service as it ties to developing a client base for your organization; the establishment of non-profit organizations and their role in artist development; and how visibility in the art world translates to building a strong fund raising development strategy. Finally how to develop an effective board of directors, including information about how to develop projects that benefit both the organization and their constituents.
