Caribbean Fine Art Fair Barbados 2020
March 11-15, 2020
The 10th Anniversary Caribbean Fine Art Fair Barbados was held from March 11-15, 2020 at the Courtney Blackman Grande Salle Gallery & Annex, Tom Adams Financial Center, Spry Street, Bridgetown, Barbados, with over 50 artists representing 13 Caribbean nations, Brazil, Ghana, Nigeria, and the USA. Three featured exhibitions: “The Cuban Connection”, “Wire Artists of Barbados” and “Diaspora Dialogue V” highlighted the visual art on display from the multi-talented array of artists.
Caribbean Fashion Showcase was another tremendous success, while Symposium Saturday provided instruction and education for the eager patrons who attended. On Saturday evening the Inaugural Bridgetown Arts Festival presented an exciting combination of performing arts and musical talent as the nightcap for our Saturday offerings. CaFA Fair Barbados’ presentation of our now annual Student Art Exhibit and Cosplay Alley continued at Norman Centre Mall in Bridgetown.
While scores of enthusiastic visitors attended our exhibits and special events, many others followed our presentations on social media. We were fortunate to complete our programming with the impending spread of the COVID-19 virus. All was still well in paradise and thankfully everyone who traveled with us, and all those who worked so hard to produce the event returned to their respective homes safely.
We want to thank the artists, presenters, participants, staff and volunteers who made this entire event possible. A special thank you to our sponsors, supporters, patrons, and everyone who has attended CaFA Fair Barbados over the years. We look forward to welcoming you in 2021.

On Friday, August 16, 2019, 6-9 pm, Newark, New Jersey’s Akwaaba Gallery hosted a reception for the opening of “Origins: Memories from the Metropolis”, an exhibition featuring 8 artists who all received their professional training in the metropolis of New York, but trace their origins to the nations of the Caribbean archipelago. Curated by CaFA Fair Director, Anderson M. Pilgrim, the paintings, designs and mixed media creations of Ademola Olugebefola, Carla Armour, Carlton Murrell, Diogenes Ballester, Francks Deceus, Kevin Darmarnie, Patricia Brintle, and Victor Davson presented a comprehensive and incisive exploration of Caribbean reflections from the major world capitals, London and New York City. 2 artists’ talks were held during the exhibition which ended on September 30, 2019.
The 2nd “Contemporary Art & Collectibles - At The Breakwater” opened on Wednesday, December 4 with a reception sponsored by Barbados Tourism and Mount Gay Rum at the Breakwater Hotel, Ocean Drive, Miami, FL. The Fair continued from December 5-9, 2019 with a phenomenal lineup of artists representing Africa, the Americas and the Caribbean. For further details and updates visit www.athebreakwater.com

Caribbean Fine Art Fair Barbados 2020
March 11-15, 2020
Join us at the 10th Edition of CaFA Fair Barbados which will be held from March 11-15, 2020 at the Courtney Blackman Grand Salle Gallery & Annex, Tom Adams Financial Center, Spry Street, Bridgetown, Barbados. The management, artists, volunteers and supporters are looking forward to our return to this wonderful venue at the home of the Barbados Central Bank, as well as our ever-expanding footprint in Historic Bridgetown.
Over 50 artists will exhibit their artwork, as well as our Caribbean Fashion Showcase, and presentations on Symposium Saturday focused on topics relevant to the arts in Barbados and the Caribbean. The documentary film, “The Fire this Time”, will debut at CaFA Fair Barbados on opening night, and a presentation of artwork by Barbadian students and live performances will be held at Norman Centre Mall, Broad Street on Friday and Saturday during the daytime.
An exciting itinerary of musical, spoken word and theatrical performances is on tap as part of the inaugural BRIDGETOWN INTERNATIONAL ARTS FESTIVAL, scheduled for Saturday and Sunday evening, March 14th and 15th, at the Grande Salle complex’s inner amphitheater.
These events will run concurrently with CaFA Fair Barbados as we continue to present a unique look at the region’s visual and performing arts including distinguished symposium presenters, fashion, spoken word, and film.

Beyond the success of CaFA Fair Barbados 2017 both in terms of art sales and visiting patrons, participating artists continue to receive opportunities to advance their careers and showcase their creativity.
Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation (RPAF) and the Caribbean Fine Art Fair (CaFA) presented My Home is Not Your Backyard, from February 26 – March 26, 2017. Curated by Oshun Layne, this exhibition was a dual venue experience at The Grand Salle Gallery and Annex (Bridgetown, Barbados) and Corridor Gallery (Brooklyn, NY). Works by 13 artists representing 8 Caribbean nations were on view. A closing reception and Artists’ Talk was held on Sunday, March 26. Here is a look:

On Friday, June 30, 2017, 5-10 pm CaFA Fair Barbados in association Caribbeing House, 794 Flatbush Avenue, Brooklyn NYC, held a closing reception for the latest of their "Inside Caribbean Culture" series of exhibitions "The Art of Prints", featuring the work of Diogenes Ballester, Pepe Coronado, Rene De Los Santos, Leslie Jimenez, Jonathan Joseph, and Moses Ros Suarez. This series of popup visual art exhibits explores the expression of artists across the Caribbean's 4 major language groups. Curated by CaFA Fair Executive Director Anderson Pilgrim the series is hosted by Caribbeing's Shelley Worrell. The exhibit opened on June 16. From August 6 – September 16, 2017, Strivers Gardens Gallery and Diaspora Now Inc. will present "Color and Texture Explored" featuring wall sculptures by multi-media artists Jorge A. Valdes (JAVA) and Alfred Weekes. An Opening Reception will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2-5, pm. A Closing Reception and Artists’ Talk will be held on Saturday, September 16, 12-4 pm. The Gallery is located at 300 W135 Street, Harlem, NY.

Join us at the 9th CaFA Fair Barbados which will be held from March 6-10, 2019 at the Courtney Blackman Grand Salle Gallery & Annex, Tom Adams Financial Center, Spry Street, Bridgetown, Barbados. The management, artists, volunteers and supporters are all excited to return to this wonderful venue at the home of the Barbados Central Bank, as well as expanding our footprint in Historic Bridgetown. There are plans for a retrospective exhibition dedicated to legendary Barbadian creative, the late Winston Jordan, at the refurbished Queens Park Gallery, with a presentation of artwork by Barbadian students and other surprises at Norman Centre Mall, Broad Street. These events will run concurrently with CaFA Fair Barbados as we continue to present a unique look at the region’s visual and performing arts including distinguished symposium presenters, fashion, spoken word, and film.
